Leipzig Choral Festival

June 30 – July 7, 2022

Join singers from across the United States to sing in Leipzig

Choirs will join together in this spectacular festival culminating in a performance of Bach’s Magnificat and Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living.  This festival is designed with great musical and historical purpose.  It honors the very rich musical heritage of Leipzig (Bach, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Wagner, Grieg, Mahler and others). 2022 marks the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s translation of the New Testament into German (and participants will visit the very room in Wartburg Castle where this translation took place).

Artistic Directors

Dr. David R. Thye is a passionate conductor, educator, and clinician. While inspiring excellence through artistic mastery, discipline, and musical integrity, Dr. Thye consistently delivers cutting-edge “live” performances with great enthusiasm.

Thye seeks out the finest choral repertoire that powerfully and intimately communicates to the mind and soul utilizing Biblical passages, creative and artistic poetry, and inspiring texts that are thought-provoking and impactful. Ultimately, Dr. Thye is passionate about God, people, and music!

Dr. Jeshua Franklin believes in the power of choral music to bring diverse groups of people together in celebration and song. Music is a gift that allows each person to express themself in ways that build cooperation, community, and understanding. Paired with a commitment to musical excellence through a holistic understanding of the singer’s voice, performances under Dr. Franklin’s leadership consistently receive acclaim from singer and audience alike.
